So, there it was. I have to admit that I was slightly cynical going into these games. All the upheaval (even in the burbs of South West London) and cost seemed a lot for the country to give. It didn’t take long, at all, to win me over though. I got totally caught up in it, I tried to watch as much of it as possible, even seeing Bradley Wiggins cycle past (the end of my road) in the time trials, on his way to gold. There’s something very special about the olympics, I always seem to forget that until it comes around again, probably more so than the World Cup.
I might well be suffering a bit of an Olympic hangover today, lucky for me the football season kicks off on Saturday.
I’m so proud of this country, and this city that I love. Great achievements. Great memories…JS
